RUNNING CLUB UPDATE w/ PRESIDENT MATT RIFFLE
Littering is fun and makes you look really cool. But littering does not make Wheeling look cool. I would never ask you to stop littering, but I will ask you to join us in cleaning it up during the Waterfront Hall Run Club’s first “Trash Run” of the year on Saturday, July 19th, at 10:00 a.m. Instead of our standard run, we will spend an hour picking up trash around Wheeling. Garbage bags, grabber tools, and plastic gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own heavy duty trash gloves and all of your trashiest friends.
Location TBD - we are polling the running club attendees.
There is already plenty of litter to pick up around Wheeling, but if you’re worried there won’t be enough before the 19th, here are some of my favorite pairings of things and places to litter:
Lead paint down by the river - turns the water a bunch of sick colors.
Batteries near playgrounds - gives the kids an opportunity to learn about science.
Bud Light cans on the interstate - relax, I’m not driving. I’m in the backseat of my mom’s minivan chucking those cool blues out the window like an absolute boss.
We’re still meeting every Wednesday & Saturday at 5:45 p.m. & 10:00 a.m. Now that the temperature is below 90 degrees grab your jackets and meet us at the Waterfront for a run.
Stay trashy,
-Riff
