Hello Waterfront Times readers!

This past Tuesday we held our first ever Waterfront Hall Wine & Movie night.

We replaced our German beer hall tables with our finest couches, made popcorn, pulled some reserve wine bottles from the back for a classic 90’s film: You’ve Got Mail, shown on our 192" screen.

We thought it would be fun for the group that night to pick the next movie we played and this group picked (from a great lineup of options): Crazy Stupid Love. Our next Wine and a Movie night will be on Tuesday February 11th at 6:30pm. The plan to have it every other Tuesday.

Disclaimer: I will be sneaking a Nick Cage movie into the selections each week until the group finally picks one.

Secondly, we will be hosting another wine tasting February 26th! There are still more details to come but I have been back to my old wine ways and it feels good, so I'm planning something pretty unique for this tasting. I hope to have another great crowd and thank you to everyone who came out for our tasting in January!

We've had some really good ideas at Waterfront Hall and a few bad ones. I believe It's Complicated - The Waterfront Hall Dating Show is one of the best ideas we've had. And I will retain that belief regardless of the outcome.

To set the scene of what we're imagining for February 22nd:

• The room is full of 70 singles who are the audience AND the contestants.
• Our lovely, enormously talented stage host Morgan Hamilton welcomes everyone for a singles happy hour at 7:30, with our first of three dating show episodes starting at 8:30.
• When 8:30 arrives, Morgan and her co-host, the great John Russell (who is mingling in the crowd during the show) announce the first three contestants to come up on the stage.
• The first "selector" will have been upstairs for the last hour, privately enjoying the hospitality experience in Camp Waterfront with the other two selectors of the next two episodes. The selector will come down a separate entrance, where they see the crowd and vice versa, but never laying eyes on the three contestants.
• Morgan walks the selector through five questions, allowing each of the three contestants to answer, not unlike the original dating show - but with some wrinkles.
• Our live audience is also interacting with the show, while John is holding the microphone and managing that process.
• Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 episodes, 3 selectors, and 9 contestants.
• Then, a nice singles party afterwards for all those who didn't get to participate.

The entire thing will be filmed by a Waterfront Hall camera crew, edited, and put on youtube. Depending on everyone's experience of the show, we will decide to do another one.

We are having so much fun putting this together and we ask that you spread the word to achieve our goal of 70 singles for February 22nd. Please share the link or the event on our facebook page.

We really think that this is a healthy way to meet people and intend to make this a fun, safe, and positive environment. We'd argue, more healthy than Tinder, Bumble, Hinge and the like.
